If we listened to our intellect we’d never have a love affair. We’d never have a friendship. We’d never go in business because we’d be cynical: “It’s gonna go wrong.” Or “She’s going to hurt me.” Or, “I’ve had a couple of bad love affairs, so therefore …” Well, that’s nonsense. You’re going to miss life. You’ve got to jump off the cliff all the time and build your wings on the way down.

It’s absolutely fine to fight the status quo (JS, in my case). But know and understand it well before you do!

6 Reasons to learn Cloud Computing

  • Meha: Can anyone tell me "Why learning cloud computing is important??".
  • Sugandha: 1) Extremely convenient from a user-perspective as all he needs is a browser or some mobile app to harness cloud based products
  • 2) Products/services can be easily launched on SAS based model which is very cost-effective from a service/product-owner perspective
  • 3) No need to give remote locations of the server environments to the user
  • 4)No limitations on space -- abundance it is..cloud is ever expandable
  • 5) Some amazing solutions are coming up in market which are cloud-frameworks like HADOOP, Azure, etc.
  • 6) Widely used by giants like Google, Amazon, etc.
  • One add-on point u can mention-
  • 7) Frameworks like HADOOP are focussing to scale their architectures by using simple quad core machines rather than heavy SAN's or NAS!!)
  • Mayank: reliscore.com/blog/cloud-computing-the-very-basics/
  • to compliment Sugandha Naolekar's answer read this. otherwise youll just speak out things without understanding what does cloud mean!
  • Mitesh: Sorry wasnt around, and I am sure you got enough dope!
  • You already have the exhaustive inputs of Sugandha & Mayank's link. Not sure how much adding this would help now.
  • Trying to cover 6 reasons why 'learning" it is important, you should just see what is the advantage of someone learning cloud computing. I'll share this from my perspective below.
  • 1) Technology of the future
  • CC has come a long way since it started and there have been a huge and diverse variety of solutions created using it and for it. A link I found on the Reliscore blog talks about how CC as a technology will prevail in the future. punetech.com/musings-on-why-cloud-computing-will-prevail/
  • 2) Proven Technology
  • Like Sugandha mentioned, top-notch companies have been using it successfully. Amazon Web Services, Heroku, The Rackspace Cloud are some solutions which are extremely well accepted in the market & are being used widely by developers and software architects to design their solutions.
  • 3) Learnings & Creativity
  • I have been using AWS for almost a year now. Given the flexibility and scalability of the solution and also the variety of services provided by AWS as well as others, makes many possible ways to design a large-scale solution. The amount of mix & match we can do, and make it meet our needs, forces us to think how we would create 'our solution' using the various pieces of cloud computing solutions.
  • 4) Flexibility
  • Cloud Computing has crossed the tipping point, across which CC solutions have been created for all major platforms. So, whatever technology you like, know or prefer, is the one you can feel free to explore the world of CC.
  • 5) Affordable
  • Even if you are a student who wants to explore the world of Cloud Computing, cost is not a barrier for you. For e.g. AWS offers a One Year Free Tier for people who want to try it out. I have been on it since April last year, have run multiple customer applications(although not high-scale), and have never paid more than around Rs. 50-100 for a month.
  • Can't think of more with relevance to learning. I have a filler in mind, so in case you do get the time to use this, just ping me,,

If you had a daughter and she was going to go out to a party with guys drinking would you let her go...

sengupta:

Response by Jacket, Pocket:

If the next generation has sons that are as repulsed by rape as they should be then we won’t need to worry about our daughter’s clothing. Hell, if we just make our generation shift the blame from the victim to the perpetrator and recognize rape as an act of violence…
